RetroVision Media Recommends Naked Holidays NYC 08

If you want to have a really cool Christmas and a hot Hanukah at the same time, you might find what you’re looking for at the Gene Frankel Theatre in the village tonight. Naked Holidays NYC 08 is heating up the holiday season in a very cool, clever and comedic way with a cast that seems like thousands.

End Times Productions is presenting this second annual seasonal feature for a mere pittance considering the slew of writers and directors that have contributed to the success of the project.

Saturday Night Live could learn much from this writing and directing collective as they put together a slick lineup of sensuous vignettes that tastefully and not so tastefully pokes fun at the absurdity of the holiday season. Through tongue and cheek and mayonnaise licking, Naked Holidays NYC 08 uses a drunken Santa and his blonde babe on the side, a conveniently MIA Mrs. Claus, a Billy Bob tongue kissing cousin family, a boozing Dick (detective) and an irate pro Hanukah movement of one, to deliver the funniest eye-popping XXX-Mas shows south of the big lights on Broadway. If we were to mention the leather clad, whip wielding cellist with a banjo strummer, accompanying you’d swear we were exaggerating; so we won’t mention them.

This is a silly laugher of a production, which is just what most of us need during these too serious times. While the play is rather long in duration, there is never a dull moment, as the pacing is quick, the material fresh and the eye candy plentiful. We are recommending Naked Holidays NYC 08’ without the slightest reservation or hesitation for your Black Box Theater pick this weekend.

Issues Under Fire: Caroline Kennedy A Net Plus for the Nation, and Charlie Rangel is so Yesterday

With all the ruminating over Caroline Kennedy looking to take Hillary Clinton’s New York Senate seat, we think this is some of the best news on the political scene since the election of Barack Obama. She represents everything we need to present an image of a new and much improved America. If only this country could find a way to attract more fresh, intelligent, creative, well traveled, well read, culturally and internationally open-minded individuals to government service, we would have a better than even chance of digging the country out of its doldrums.

Caroline Kennedy is answering the call of a country in need of politically untainted voices, to offer 21st century ideas and approaches to problems that our current ideologically stagnant and corrupt congress can no longer be counted on to provide. We think this country is rich in people of a Caroline Kennedy’s stature and grace as one need only look beyond Barack Obama to take a closer gander at his wife Michelle. Were it not for President elect Obama, we may have never known the first rate attributes of our incoming First Lady.

Yes, America may have some tough years ahead as we try to reestablish our economic footing, regain the world’s respect and retake the moral high ground, while preparing for a cleaner/greener world, but this is much more achievable if we begin to groom our best and brightest to be ready to fill the shoes of current leaders as they age out into advisory capacities.

We have stated in previous writings that the primary reason for the country’s demise is holding on to lawmakers and politicians at all levels who have use their public service as a life long career opportunity. They have enjoyed the perks, attention and power, but over time, have failed to get the people’s business done. If we had a system in place that would require a setting senator or house representative of two or more terms to train a successor to recommend for a future election, then we would never run the risk of having leadership fall behind the ever changing times.

In other news:

A. Something around Charlie Rangel still smells funny and Nancy Pelosi is dragging her ass identifying the true source of the problem
B. President Elect Obama should be really, really, really, really careful dealing with Afghanistan; and more boots on the ground is not the answer.

Issues Under Fire: American Karma Part One

Apparently the Bush administration has no understanding of the fundamental concept of Karma; what goes around comes around or the basic principals of Sir Isaac Newton’s laws of physics; every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Despite all the things the administration have gotten totally wrong and the tremendous price the nation is paying for those wrongs, one of the president’s last parting actions of gutting the $700 billion bailout plan of restrictions on executive pay appears to be that of someone who hasn't a clue of how the laws of the universe work.

After the country’s citizens balked vehemently at congress’s consideration and eventual passage of the bailout bill in the first place, they were slapped in the face one final time by the president making last minute changes to the bill creating a giant loophole for rich Wall Street cronies to slip through with the taxpayer’s dough. Without the slightest concern of how the public would receive and be angered by such an in your face act, President Bush gave his corporate colleagues one hell of a holiday gift at the taxpayer’s expense.

If it is even remotely true that what goes around comes around, then this president, his entire administration as well as anyone that gave support, cover or just sat quietly on the sidelines will have hell to pay. That being said, lets discuss the average American citizen's role in this American tragedy. We, the general public are paying now for our years of apathy, self-absorption, blind faith and blissful ignorance. We are paying with loss of our jobs, our homes and our former way of life. We the people are getting paid back in spades with the crummy future and legacy we are leaving our children. But even sadder than all that, the boomer generation will be forced to pay with the loss of their golden years. America is looking at a pothole filled and landmine laid road ahead and we are going to have to travel it with blindfolds on. Every step we take will have the potential to destroy what little we have left.

In a nutshell, this country simply retained the services of a government far beyond their usefulness for far too long. We were always ready to see some other community, state or region oust their Senators and or House Representatives, but never our own. We let them get away for decades without taking care of the nation’s business as long as they smiled, brought home the pork and didn't get caught with their hands in the cookie jar or with their pants down in public. We would not be in this mess if we had mandated our lawmakers to provide health care and a public school system that our kids could actually remain competitive with the rest of the industrialized world.

We let our representatives play their red against blue, Black against White, straight against gay and even men against women games. If that were not enough, we eventually got to Christian against Jew and post 9/11, everybody against the Muslims. Our own ignorance and arrogance lead us to our current plight and we have few to blame but ourselves.

While we acknowledge the current administration took this country into very dark times, teetering on the end of times as we know them to be in America and those directly responsible will pay dearly as well, still we must all accept our part in this madness if we hope to see better times ever again in this nation. Part two tomorrow! Click here for the podcast

RetroVision Media" Issues Under Fire: Has US Economy Reached Economic Critical Mass

The question enquiring minds are asking now is, whether the US economy has reached critical mass. Congress failing to reach an agreement on how to or whether to salvage the auto industry leaves the few alert minds left in the spectator seats to ponder if the country is teetering on complete collapse. Every leading indicator seems to point to an economy headed for the bottom with a full head of steam.

Our dire assessment is born from more than the raw numbers on the continuous job losses and the housing sector. Even considering the falling dollar, current deflation and eventual inflation is not the prevailing reason for our near certain demise. We think things will only get worse, because America has been intentionally misled by an incompetent, negligent, immoral and thoroughly institutionally corrupt system of government for decades.

This country need only review the long and growing list of thieves and character flawed creeps like Duke Cunningham, William Jefferson, Bill Clinton, Ted Stevens, Mark Foley, Larry Craig, John Edwards, James Traficant, Dan Rostenkowski, Vito Fossella, Eliot Spitzer, David Vetter and Rod Blagoevich. While it may be premature, we’ll even add Charlie Rangel as he seems to come to mind. And what about the likes of Sharpe James, Marion Berry and all the local political leaches and low lives. These are only a few of the names that immediately came to mind. We are sure your list will be different and perhaps much longer. If we were attempting to be thourough, we’d add the entire Bush W. administration simply for all the money cohorts made in the elective and fraudulent Iraq war.

We may be expecting change from president elect Barack Obama, but in our opinion, we have awakened about ten years too late. We have persisted in electing and reelecting the same old thieving bunch of bastard’s term after term after term, only to kick the most egregious, blatant and obvious political hacks out on their asses when their wrong doings are smeared in our faces. We have continued to elect and reelect aging political icons even when it is clear they are not performing at the levels they have in the past. Sen. Robert Byrd and Sen Ted Kennedy and too many others have been allowed to stay way past their prime and usefulness at the public’s expense. We watched crusty old cruds like Claude Pepper and Strom Thurmond age into oblivion right before our eyes.

When we are all sitting around in years to come trying to make sense of what happened, we must consider our role as the citizens that allowed ourselves to be used as tools of a powerful few that had only one purpose in mind; keeping the status quo the status quo. We let the lobbyist buy our representation with money, promises and gifts while they continued to kick the healthcare issue down the road year after year. We let them crush families with childcare cost and did little when the public education system began to fail years ago. It is not news that a completely bought and paid for congress is and always has been infiltrated and infected with scum. What is news however is the fact that we are letting the very same political culture that got America into this fix pretend they can get us out of it.

We commented on Tuesday that the only way to save the auto industry is to nationalize the big three, gut the current management teams to the core and install a fresh green tech and 21st century savvy crew. But this concept needs to be extended to every industry in a similar circumstance including congress. This is why we think America will be in decline for at least eight to ten years if we are lucky. This country has to be rebuilt from the ground up. And if we don’t start with the lawmakers and legislators, nothing will ever change mo matter what Party is in the White House. But as one might imagine, replacing an entire government short of a bloody revolution is not going to be an easy task. Unfortunately, those that are truly responsible for this calamity have insolated themselves very well by protecting one another’s backs.

These are the brutal facts of our immediate and possibly long tern future and nothing any body in Washington or your local government can honestly say otherwise. We are in a crap load of trouble and there is nobody clever or clean enough to do more than just keep the lies alive. Click here for the podcast.

RetroVision Media Recommends The Scandal!

Amy Patrice Golden provided intense energy to the words of playwright Kristen Kosmas while augmenting Courtney Sale’s direction with an intuitive acting skill that converged to create a perfect blend for “The Scandal.” These three women have come together to on this one woman show to reveal a captivating tale of a small town girl, beset with small town issues and how she darkly deals with them in a big time way.

Pink, burned out at too tender an age, as a result of the loss of her father from a hangman’s noose of his own making, a mother living in denial and a motley crew of friends harboring their own bleak concerns, fashions a solution to solve all her troubles. But living in Podunk USA can present unique problems to anyone trying to set their life aflame to quell their pain without causing a stir amongst the locals. That is the backdrop for this engaging story that consumes a young, assuming and innocent woman desperately trying to understand her world and the world at large.

Kristen Kosmas’ character Pink is written with such depth that the audience will find itself empathetic and sympathetic to the plight of her protagonist right from the opening dialog. Kosmas waste precious little time letting the viewer get to know Pink and what is driving her near manic mania. From our purview, it was the playwright’s clever stagecraft and pacing that avoided the pitfall of early boredom that often plagues one person shows. In our opinion, The Scandal is a production more than worth the price of a ticket as well as your time and attendance.

The Horse Trade Theatre Group & The Management is currently presenting this dramatic and darkly comedic one woman show much to the appreciation and approval of the lower eastside’s Indie theatre fans. If you have a chance to catch some Black Box Theatre this weekend, The Scandal is a must see performance.

RetroVision Media's Issues Under Fire: Just What America Needs Right Now Another Czar

While congress and the lame, crippled and near dead duck Bush administration continue to monkey around with the auto industry bailout to maintain an image of “at least we’re trying to do something”, we think they are wasting valuable time by not attacking the problem head on with aggressive action. By appointing another so called Czar for the auto industry to oversee continued failure is not even close to being a rational solution for this immediate crisis. Just look at the past track records of previous Czars.

Remember our Drug Czar and Education Czar and our attempt to appoint a war Czar for the Iraq/Afghanistan conflicts? Czars always seem to make sense to those who have run out of ideas and are simply looking for a high profile sucker to hang all the blame on when the inevitable worse case scenario come to fruition. Our history of appointing Czars has had abysmal results at best; no matter what the task they were charged with accomplishing. From illegal drug sales and abuse to achieving acceptable educational standards for our youth, the outcomes of their efforts in most cases have been worse than before the Czar was given the job.

If this situation with the auto industry is going to have the slightest hope of turning around, the government is going to have to nationalize the big three auto makers, gut the companies of their current management, renegotiate all existing contracts (on a fair but take it leave it basis) install forward thinking leadership with a healthy attitude towards green technology and move on to the next issue.

For the outgoing or incoming administration to outright shun the idea of nationalizing the country’s auto industry simply because of ideological differences, we think that is backward thinking. This is a critical time in America’s history and nothing should be removed from the table if it promises to provide stability to the economy and promises to retain sound and safe jobs, that pay a livable wage with adequate benefits. We know many will argue that the government has a lousy record of running things, but we are taking about changing all that.

If we are truly looking to change how we do business in Washington, on Wall Street and on Main Street, then we are going to have to entertain change at the wholesale level and not these half assed, tepid measures that are sure to have congress revisiting these same issues again, several months into the first fiscal quarter of 09. It is our opinion that any corporate entity or industry that has been deemed to large to fail and are coming to the taxpayers begging for a buck, said companies or industries should be considered for taxpayer ownership.

If we look at the bailouts of these mega corporations as protecting our national security; and in actuality we are, then doing what ever it takes to ensure that the economic engine of this country don’t stall out for good, leaves every option open. These companies should be forcibly seized through eminent domain and operated by the government until such time the industry can be sold back into the private sector. In theory, we are already buying these auto giants with the bailout money, simply because the money they report they need to stay in business; even temporarily is far more than all three are currently worth. Hell, we would not even have to change the GM logo; the new name would be Government Motors.

At least if the government bought the auto industry outright and took complete control, we’d have more than just a promise from incompetents with horrid track records. The nation would have hard assets to hold on to until things got turned around. True, the employees would now have government jobs, but a government job is better than no job. The nation’s dealers and suppliers could relax and local and state governments wouldn’t be saddled with hordes of new out of work dependents.

This concept, we realize sounds like the socialist crap rap that president elect Barack Obama was tarnished with during the heat of the election, but things are moving rapidly and things have changed significantly since November 4th. As we become more and more aware daily of just how dire the economic climate is in this country, we must be ready to embrace any and all solutions that will make our products, services and workers competitive with the rest of the world. If we have to entertain the thought of some form of socialized government intervention to save 3 to 5 million more jobs from being lost, then we should give said solutions a fair and open hearing. Issues Under Fire: Will Wall Street White Collar Crime Wave Trigger Blue Collar Crime Wave On Main Street

With Friday’s report of 533,000 jobs lost in the month of November; far worse than anticipated by any one’s best guesstimate, we think America’s worst case scenario may be ready to play its self out. Because of the Wall Street white collar crime wave that was allowed to go unnoticed and unchecked for so long, we will soon see a blue collar crime tsunami on Main Street.

While Wall Street’s criminals, hiding in plain sight have to date walked away with millions, some say billions of corporate loot and taxpayer’s hard earned money, the rank and file minions continue to suffer the blatant injustice.

CNN.com reports the troubling story about 200 workers from the United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers of America conducting what they call a "peaceful occupation" of the Republic Windows and Doors plant since Friday, when their abruptly announced layoffs were supposed to take effect.

According to the story, the workers said Republic told them Bank of America had cut off credit to the company and gave them three days’ notice that they were losing their jobs. Federal law requires either 60 days' notice or 60 days' pay for the laid-off worker. Unfortunately, these people were given a lousy 72 hours before they had to hit the bricks, with no clear future of their next source of income, no way to afford health care and no way to meet their immediate financial obligations. To their credit, this group of workers found a way to bring their plight national attention in a peaceful manor. But, we think stories like this are going to become far more common and as a result, far less peaceful.

When these staggering numbers of people start heading for the unemployment lines, it won’t be long before the lines grow longer at the welfare office for public assistance. With a 17% increase in people receiving food stamp benefits bringing the total reported number to 31 million Americans qualifying for the benefit; it is hard to see how blue collar crime rates will not spike soon. With a national population count of roughly 305 million that means close to 1 in 10 Americans are poor. With that number projected to increase shortly, we see crime statistics keeping pace.

Thus far, white collar crime has paid so well, we think many of the regular Joes left holding the empty bag will soon reason it is their turn to grab all they can from anyone that is venerable enough. If the nation’s leadership don’t act quickly and decisively to deliver a solution to this full blown depression, things can and will get out of hand.

The US workforce has lost a reported 1.9 million jobs since January 08. That figure is only temporary as the government has been revising its own labor statistics upwards every month to continually reveal a worst circumstance each time. With the economy in this perilous state, and no leadership in place yet to speak of and no current proposals to date that can even offer the slightest hope in the near and not so near future, we predict a rise in all types of crimes. From petty theft to grand theft, to burglary, to your old fashioned street muggings, purse snatching, car jacking, vandalism, drug sales and abuse, prostitution and alcohol related offenses; to say nothing of domestic issues, we think the lid could blow at any time.

People will begin to realize that they have been had and feel that they have been placed in a position where “a person has to do what a person has to do.” When people are thinking about feeding and clothing the kids , getting the schools supplies, heating the home this winter, the overdue rent and mortgage payments, car loans and staying one step ahead of the Repo guy, a significant percentage of those same people are going to consider criminal acts to solve their problems.

Even with all of the above being true, believe it or not, it could and probably will get worse before it gets better. Those factory workers that peacefully protested the unceremonious and illegal layoffs in Chicago could very easily morph into violent street protest and demonstrations against a corrupt government and business community that created an environment for greed to send the nation into an irreversible economic tailspin.

We think it is better to understand that our situation is critical now, rather than wait for the government to tell the nation we have been in a depression since January 08 like their retroactive acknowledgement of the January 07 recession. If we wait for Washington to tell the truth, we too will be part of a statistic revised upward; a crime statistic. Click here to download the podcast.

RetroVision Media's Issue Under Fire: Doomsday Has Arrived For US Economy

History was quietly made yesterday as Ron Gettlefinger of the UAW announced unequivocally that his union was willing to make whatever concessions necessary to give the big three auto manufacturers time and maneuverability to save themselves. While the action is to be applauded, the ugly fact remains, this willingness to sacrifice may be way to little and way to late. The naked truth is the unions were just as negligent and shortsighted as management in the process of driving the auto industry into the ground.

While we have always been big supporters of labor and the fair treatment of the lowly workers, surely union leaders had to see the writing on the wall as sure as management should have. They had to know that their workers were putting out a product that was being judged inferior to foreign imports. They had to know the competition was being made and delivered cheaper and more efficiently. In this situation, there is so much blame to go around so many times, there is enough to fall on each one of us several times over.

With the top dogs of General Motors, Ford and Chrysler back on Capital Hill with written business plans, presumably capable of convincing congress to break them off enough dough to keep them afloat long enough to turn things around, we can only envision more expensively borrowed money being thrown away. As much as we think the auto industry must be saved, the larger picture of the US economy says it is too late.

We can’t see anything that can the backward thinking monoliths of GM, Ford and Chrysler can come up with in ten short days that will turn these companies around . In our opinion, time has run out. It is no way in hell these companies could have any viable solutions just lying around and readily accessible that they couldn’t come up with over the last thirty years.

Here is how it will go this week; Congress will have it’s show hearings, the auto giant execs will allow themselves to be publicly humiliated and at the end of the day, they will get the $25 billion they asked for originally. Congress will get to look as they played tough by holding the line at the original $25 billion and not allowing the later beefed of request of $34 billion. Congress will then present a picture of holding these executives accountable for future performance and things will go silent on the issue until the first half of the second quarter of 09.

Unfortunately, we think the nation has met it’s financial Waterloo and there is no place else to go from here but down. Today’s headline and podcast was named and reads Dooms Day because we have reached the conclusion that no solutions are left to solve these woes, short of a complete collapse and rebuilding of the country from the ground up. With all the lies and inconsistencies about how the country was doing during the first three quarters of this year, with the rampant and flagrant fraud that was allowed to take place on Wall Street, in conjunction with how incompetently Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and Federal Reserve Chairmen Ben Bernanke have handled the aftermath, we see little reason to be the slightest optimistic about anything.

Simply put, far to many things have just failed to add up that would give any sane, thinking and prudent person a reason to feel confident in what the government or big business can do to deal with this global financial crisis. We have seen the shell game played out with Citi Group trying to purchasing Wamu in September and now themselves in big trouble. We saw Bank of America acquiring Countrywide Financial Corp while at the same time agreeing to buy Merrill Lynch; now B of A is looking sour. Even JP Morgan Chase now smells funny after they actually did get their hands on Washington Mutual. If these surviving financial giants really had a clue or real money in the first place, we wouldn’t be getting these conflicting stories week after week.

As president elect Barack Obama tries to get ahead of the impending disaster we are all facing both domestically and abroad, he is being left with few if any real options. The latest proposed stimulus package, no matter how large will have little positive impact beyond the very short term. We are broke and that is the bottom line. This last hope comes down to borrowing more very expensive, interest bearing money that will ultimately flow right back into the hands from whence it came; China.

Since we no longer produce things and stuff in America that can’t be produced elsewhere cheaper, much of the pay Americans will spend their incomes on will be for things and stuff being imported. All the planned infrastructure building and repairs will indeed keep jobs here, but the money will continue to flow abroad for televisions, toys, tech stuff, clothing, furnishings and anything else you can think of. If there is a solution that can really help our financial condition, it has still yet to be presented. We truly wish we had better news to deliver, but at least it not as bad as what we have to report tomorrow. Click here for the podcast.

RetroVision Media: The Retroactive Recession And Corporate America Comes Begging

Well it is finally official; the U.S. economy is in a recession. This of course should not be news to anybody with or without a job, small, medium and large business operators/owners, or home sellers and buyers, or auto manufacturers and dealers, or the financial and retail industries. The only news about the U.S. economy being in a recession is the fact that the New York Times reported it as news yesterday.

With the Dow industrials dropping a whopping 680 points, as it was responding to the reality of conditions on the streets (both Wall and Main), those who are supposedly in the know, have found they can’t even pull the wool over their own eyes anymore. We can only explain this late admission as analogous to a money junkie being in a complete state of denial. But as the saying goes, the jig is up; the people are wise to what has been going on and have been for quite some time now.

The nonpartisan National Bureau of Economic Research, charged with officially dating recessions, has retroactively dated this latest economic catastrophe to December 2007. What the exact measure the eggheads in charge of monitoring the nation’s books are using to make bold assessments such as these, we can only wonder. They must working with some formula that is unbeknown to those limited to common sense. We suppose one could find any number of ways to define a recession, so we checked. The mostly widely accepted version was the Wikipedia definition of a recession; two consecutive quarters of negative GDP or gross domestic product.

Although, from our limited understanding, looking at the raw employment data for the last twelve months was a clear indicator that the country was well on the way to going bust. We have shed nearly a million jobs so far this year and the month of November is predicted to add another 300 thousand to the unemployment lines. With the credit crunch in full swing and state and local governments joining the federal welfare roles, along with the entire corporate community, it is now easy to see that Ben Bernanke of the Federal Reserve and Henry Paulson Treasury Secretary was simply propagandizing the state of the country’s financial affairs.

We have been reporting consistently that in order to maintain a robust and fundamentally sound economy, it takes a constant influx of jobs. Most leading economist we have talked to confirmed, we need at least one hundred thousand job created monthly to for the economy to remain viable and sustainable at levels Americans have become accustomed to.

However, we have watched week after week and month after month of people in every industry left in this country lose their jobs, lose their healthcare, lose their homes, lose their retirement and in many cases, lose their self respect. We are now watching people lose the only things they have left; their sense of hope and faith in their government’s ability to fix the major ills facing the country. If this last ditch effort on the part of Barack Obama’s incoming administration does not work and work on the first try, this country may be doomed to a decade or two of bad times of which this current generation is not prepared to deal with.

We are now at the final stage of printing money to bluff our way out of this economic hole. We have got to show those currently holding our bad paper that we are worthy of risking more. Without the faith of the Chinese, the Saudis and anybody else willing to work with us, inflation will kick in soon and kick the dollar’s ass. We will be loading up our SUVs with cash to go to the supermarket Zimbabwe style.

We as a nation are in serious trouble and the near future looks bleak. We are going to have to take full advantage of our new administration’s worldwide popularity and respect as we’ll not have a chance to make a second impression. Thus far, we have already burned through $350 of the $700 billion dollar rescue package, without having a clue as to where that money went, how it was spent or any positive effect it has had if any. This next phase and last phase of bailing out American had better be managed a damn sight better that it’s ugly older brother or it is game set and match against America’s future.

Say It ain’t so O. Of all the possibilities, why is Hillary Clinton your Secretary of State?

With the heat turned up as high as it can get between India and Pakistan, the madness going on in Thailand, the new tough talking Russians, the shaky Status of Forces agreement with the Iraqis and the every trigger ready Israelis poised to pounce on Iran, Syria Hamas and Hezbollah, the far left and the not so far left is left wondering why President elect Barack Obama is hooking up his primary archrival, for arguable the second most important job on the White House staff.

It was our understanding, that during the primaries Sen. Clinton was thoroughly exposed as having accomplished little more than establishing an acceptable reputation with world leaders via her tea sessions, photo opportunities and the occasional gratuitous hand shaking. It was never established that she attended and or participated in any high level cabinet meetings. We can’t recall any major deals done, any treaties signed or any conflicts resolved during her coattail riding as the first lady.

When the Clinton campaign leveled the charge at then Senator Obama for lacking the experience to answer the so called 3:00 AM call to handle a world crisis, she opened herself up to the same criticism for which she failed to adequately quell. With all the possible selections President Obama could have filled this critical post with, we get Sen. Clinton and her track record for being successful at nothing other than being popular.

When reviewing her major decisions, efforts and accomplishments, we see nothing but failures. During her eight years in the White House, she failed to get the Universal Health care off the ground, during her brief stay in the Senate, there where no earth shaking work done on behalf of New Yorkers and her latest disaster of a presidential campaign ended not only in a loss, but was clearly run poorly because of horrid decisions and personnel selections she was ultimately responsible for.

Somehow, this selection just doesn’t smell right on any level. We have an incoming National Security Team that includes a masterfully crafted group of talented, respected, and smart individuals with a near perfect blend of competence and experience. So why, we wonder is said team being offset with the symbolic selection of Hillary Clinton. For a reason or reasons, that at least for now will remain unknown, we can only speculate.

This nation has had to endure the ineffectiveness of incompetent Condoleezza Rice ever since she eased into Colin Powell’s seat nearly four years ago and not a damn thing has been accomplished for her meager efforts.

The fact of the matter is this country has had no accomplished leadership in the State Department since James Baker and Madeline Albright. Since these two left their positions at the State Department, we have had a flunky (Colin Powell) and an asshole (Condoleezza Rice) providing weak negotiating and diplomatic skills.

While we doubt the Indians and the Pakistanis are ready to go nuclear on each other any time soon, we have to worry about the two countries squaring off on their borders, thereby leaving the border of Afghanistan wide open. Even the tepid support and weak intelligence we were getting from the Pakistanis is far better than what we can expect if they feel they are forced to focus their attentions elsewhere. Without adequate boots on the ground to help deal with the Taliban and the growing threat of Al Qaeda in the mountains of Afghanistan, that will cause the pentagon to reevaluate how the troop drawdown in Iraq will go down.

These are tumultuous times in the hottest region in the world right now and our strategic interest and national security are very much at risk as a result. We scarcely need a glad-handing teetotaler in a position where a hardcore deal making negotiator is called for. This weekend the word was out that perhaps Bill Clinton could serve as a mediator between Pakistan and India and oddly enough, we agree. Big Bill maybe able to provide significant assistance in this vain. But if this is the case, why didn’t they just not just consider Big Bill for the Secretary of State Gig and call it a complete winning team with no weak links.

In our opinion, this is one of those mysteries like what really happened to Jimmy Hoffa or who really shot JFK. We may never really know what possessed Barack Obama to pick Hillary Clinton for his Secretary of State.
