Issues Under Fire: Edwards Bows Out, Rudy Kicked Out, Mukasey Still Copping Out

The nation lost an important voice for the people’s fight against corporate interest that has waged a brutal war against the American worker in the name of profit and international competition. With John Edwards’ unfortunate exit from the primary race, his populace message of more economic parity via holding the powerful accountable, access to affordable healthcare, education, housing and overall workers rights may be lost in the thinning sauce with the narrowing of the field of presidential hopefuls.

With promises of carrying on the lyrics of his torch song for the downtrodden from both Hillary and Barack, he bowed out of the contest leaving many supporters left only with the hope, that the two remaining Democrats battling for the nomination would keep the light lit for the poor as the fight moves on into the later rounds.

In our opinion, the Obama campaign seems most capable and believable of shouldering that burden as his message to date has been equally targeted to leveling the economic playing field for all Americans sprinkled with dignity and self-respect. While Former Senator Edwards has yet to swing his support to either Clinton or Obama, there has been undercurrents of chitchat indicating Edwards would be a good pick for Attorney General in an Obama administration.

If one can believe the anonymous sources we rely on and respect, John Edwards would make a great Attorney General no matter which Democrat lands the White House. His reputation of taking on corporate America and forcing the powerful to play by the rules will be a breath of fresh air to those in the Justice Department that have dedicated their careers to serving the public’s interest.

With Barack Obama at the helm leading the nation’s reputation back to a place of prominence through intellectual and diplomatic engagement on foreign policy, with a strong emphasis on global economic and ecological concerns while able to appreciate the inseparable nature of the two, one can already begin to see a flicker of light at the end of this eight years of a very dark tunnel.

RetroVision Media Reviews and Recommends Sisters, Such Devoted Sisters

Through a dark dank and dimly lit view of life displayed with as much humor as passion, playwright and performer Russell Barr takes his captivated audience on a wild ride in the fast lane of a transvestite’s world in Glasgow. This tale delivers a painful reverse chronology of youthful indiscretions that only add to the heartache of growing up with all the cons and none of the pros in life.

Sisters, Such Devoted Sisters, is Barr’s one person show that cleverly opens with drag queen Bernice Hindley, in full drag regalia awakening in bed from a night of bar hopping, replete with alcohol and drugs excesses to the usual morning of regrets. We travel with him via a well written trip through his many trials and tribulations of a violence filled, emotionally stifling, poverty stricken, gay life; starting from his poignant realization of his current life’s station and reliving every step along the way through a rearview mirror.

Undergoing near mentally crippling traumas he weaves his story of many the lows and few highs of his experience with well defined characters that highlight the many negative contributions they made to the development or arrested development of his core being.

But the bigger picture of this sad story speaks to the average Jane and Joe that only can relate to the vicious savagery that is regularly unleashed upon those living beyond the confines of the conventional, through the lens of a television news camera. Barr’s work gives his audience a bird’s eye view of the persecution and isolation of the gender blender’s existence without being preachy or pitiful.

At the end of this one hour plus performance, his character, Bernice has regressed to a childhood of simpler times, leading this writer to have the hope that his future would not be to worse off for the wear of his past.

We hardily recommend Sisters Such Devoted Sisters!

Issues Under Fire: Lame State of Union Speech Delivered by Lame Duck President Attempting Spin of Lame State of Affairs & Kennedy Clan Loves Obama

Some days are easier to put together a great show than others and thanks to the president’s State of the Union Address last night; this is one of those days. As per expected the president hit all of his scripted salient points, delivered in his usual drone like delivery with the occasional wink to one of his enthusiastic audience plants to keep the hype alive.

With a packed house of disingenuous genuflecting-like trained seals applauding on cue, the nation’s insomniacs seeking a snooze got their last dose of a lame a State of the Union speech, about our lame state of affairs by our lamed assed lame duck president. Goodbye and good luck Mr. President and thanks for nothing!

In other news: The Kennedy Clan love fest with Senator Obama began yesterday with their warm and heartfelt embracing endorsement of Barack at the obvious expense of the Hillary-Billy Clintons. As my mother use to espouse, “God don’t love ugly”, and that is exactly how the Clintons were turning things needlessly in South Carolina. Unfortunately for them, the Democratic hierarchy found their political behavior and tactics as low classed and distasteful as the rest of the country and found suitable muzzle for the so called Clinton machine’s attack dog, aka Bill slick and slimy Clinton himself.

But wait, there is more… Our predictions for the Florida primary results: Rudy “The One Trick 911 Pony” Giuliani will be sent packing tomorrow like a swayback pack mule. We are sure should he try to soak his contributors for more cash to keep his campaign afloat until Super Tuesday, he and his loser crew will quickly find their efforts D.O.A.

We will refrain from predicting the fates of McCain and Romney as they are tied together tighter than conjoined twins in the polls, but if we hazarded to guess, we see McCain the smarter of the twosome eking out a very slim win. And what about Holy Huckabee? Heck, who the hell cares? Click here to download

Issues Under Fire: If Hillary Is Strong Enough To Stand On Her Own, Why Does She Stand For Bill

Since the Clintons insist on allowing Bill to playing the role of co-candidate, using his influence to sway votes his/her way while having no compunction as to what method’s he uses to do so, we thought it fair to revisit the following information concerning the horrid reputation Bill Clinton developed during his ascent to the White House.

Why bring up the name of Juanita Broderick and the hellacious allegations she and others made during Bill Clinton’s run for the White House now? Because we believe if Mr. Clinton is going to be a significant contributor to Hillary’s presidency then we should revisit his background to help fully understand Hillary’s character and motivations.

If in fact, merely half the accusation of Bill Clinton’s sexual dalliances are true, it begs one to wonder exactly what would it take for Hillary to make a stand on pride and principle to leave a louse like Bill Clinton.
We realize a shot at being the first woman to hold the title of Commander in Chief is one hell of a prize, but at what price does a person of character with moral and true ethical standards say the hell with it; I can make it my own.

Apparently, Hillary Clinton has not reach that bottom yet as she has to date allowed Bill to do all then heavy lifting in her campaign while she cried and hides behind her false sense sisterhood. As the primary caregiver for two teenage girls myself, I have always impressed upon my daughters it is better to eat dirt and drink muddy water before they take crap from any man for any reason. And it is that type of woman it is going to take to run this nation.

We would venture to say that Barack Obama’s wife and John Edwards’ wife shows as much strength and intelligence as Hillary Clinton. But, these two women have the addition of the much needed character traits of gumption and self-respect. Somehow, I would feel very disappointed if daughters I raised displayed the characteristics Hillary is trying to market as strong take charge from day one leadership. From this writer’s perspective, she looks rather weak. There are great woman leaders in this country and when I am seeking examples for my young ladies/women to emulate, Hillary Clinton don’t even make my top twenty-five.

EYES WIDE SHUT (hillary knew! she raped, too)

Issues Under Fire: Liar Liar America Is On Fire From Bush on War To Clinton on Obama To Govn't Fixing Economy

Issues Under Fire: How Bullshit became an art form in the lead up to the Iraq war.

According to founder Chuck Lewis of The Center for Public Integrity his researchers were charged with the task of tracking every utterance by the top US officials made from September 11, 2001, through September. 11, 2003, regarding Iraq, "weapons of mass destruction" (WMD), and the alleged link between al-Qaeda and Saddam Hussein.

The primary crew of officials include, but not limited to Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, secretary of state Colin Powell, defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld, deputy defense secretary Paul Wolfowitz, national security adviser Condoleezza Rice (now secretary of state), and former White House press secretaries Ari Fleischer and Scott McClellan.

While all this information is now a matter of public record, it is astounding to see it blatantly quantified and proves that there were no WMD in Iraq and that the attacks against the US in 2001 had no connection to Saddam.

Lewis states: "Clearly, this Iraq chronology calls into question the repeated assertions of Bush administration officials that they were merely the unwitting victims of bad intelligence. More broadly, consider the timeless words of the late historian and Librarian of Congress, Daniel Boorstin, in his classic 1961 work, The Image: "We suffer primarily not from our vices or our weaknesses, but from our illusions. We are haunted, not by reality, but by those images we have put in place of reality. America went to war nearly five years ago after an orchestrated campaign of false statements by the nation's top officials, a war begun under the illusion of an imminent national security threat. We are haunted by a war begun, in other words, under false pretenses."

While the country is focused on this now ludicrous Democratic and Republican primary along with the world’s knee knocking attention over the near catastrophic collapse of the U.S. economy, the aforementioned culprits that propagated these lies, distortions and outright campaign of misinformation will slither under the radar.

In order to keep this travesty from happening again in the near future, the mainstream media will actually to have work for a change and provide the public more than the recent lies Bill Clinton is smearing Barack Obama with, the pill count found on Ledger’s pillow or worse yet, Britney Spears’ latest pubic hair cut. One must be constantly aware that the news and information being disseminated is merely cleverly disguised mind management tools to keep the general public wondering and worrying about all the wrong things at all the wrong times.

When approached at a recent press conference concerning the displeasure by Nancy Pelosi’s lack of effort to press for impeachment hearings for the President and or Vice president, her response was the country would not benefit from such activity as it would only divide the nation and not unite us.

We wholeheartedly disagree, as the nation could not possibly be more divided than it already is. Furthermore, the only way to realign this country on a positive track for the future is to hold the bastards responsible fully accountable to the country and the world. This positive pro-action will accomplish two very important task; (A) be warning to the next crop of megalomaniacs waiting in the wings for their fifteen minutes on the global stage and (B) show the world we have truly closed this dark chapter on American domestic and foreign policy.

A Marriage of Convenience Reviewed & Recommended

That old adage, life is rarely what it seems to be, is the catalyst and driving premise for writer director Norman Beim’s new theatrical offering of A Marriage of Convenience, playing at the Turtle’s Shell Theater in the Times Square Arts Center.

Allowing sex and politics to commingle without restriction during a period of American history when the pangs of intolerance were felt far more sharply than the present, Norman Beim presents this cute comedic tale of a self serving, self indulgent and thoroughly self absorbed gay writer considering a run for a Senate seat.

Realizing his candidacy would have much broader appeal to Washington insiders and support from the voting public, he and his stressed out, yet ambitious business manager connive and concoct a harebrained marriage of convenience between our very gay politico wannabe and his lesbian administrative assistant. Not willing to leave anything to chance, our coattail riding business manager/advisor secures the backing of a tough talking, hard-nosed, cigar toting party boss type, to give our “its all about me” rising star, the “strings attached” nod that guarantees his win.

And everything goes along happily ever after. Not! Mr. Beim could have let the aforementioned plot carry his production across the finish line, winning audience approval for a good, funny, tongue in cheek story that tickles the spirit and warms the heart. But Beim offers more, as he twist his protagonist’s lustful attentions in varying directions to include genuine sexual attractions to his political benefactor’s daughter as well as his, in name only, wife; albeit temporary. I guess we needn’t let you know that here is where the real trouble starts. So we won’t! We recommend you see A Marriage of Convenience for yourselves.

Issues Under Fire: Democrats Slump To New Lows Along With Economy

While the economy staggers, Barack and Hillary bitch slap each other with Bill’s blessings. The Democratic primary has been allowed to devolve into the usual state of fractured entities all looking for their own personal interest and not of the need to unite as one nation fighting to regain it’s footing.

The Clinton campaign led by Bill Clinton’s poison laced silver tongue aiding his wife to debase, devalue and dilute Obama’s message is driving the intended wedge between Blacks, Whites and Latinos, while at the same time pitting men against women. If one throws in the John Edwards message of class wars, you have a bloodletting bloodbath that will strangle any positive outlook for this country no matter who wins.

The Clinton campaign apparently has decided to lower the boom on Obama by lowering their blows to include lies and distortions, even glomming on to campaign slogans their political operatives failed to appreciate before their counterpart gained traction with them. Their advisors have determined that tag teaming Obama with Hillary going for his nuts and Bill placing a well sharpened knife in his back, as both continue to smile broadly for an unsuspecting Black audience seems to be working. What is unfortunate for the country is, if this strategy is allowed to work, America will only end up with two scumbags for the price of one.

Where the aforementioned might sound like a deal to some, we think that old styled politicking will simply sink the country twice as fast. Click here to download or on air to stream

Issue Under Fire: Can Congress, The President & A Heated Promise Them Anything Campaign Season Revive The Economy

A nail-biting nation is waiting nervously on the knuckleheads in Washington to get a national bailout package for small/mid sized business and corporations via tax cuts and incentives. While the little guy can hope for tax rebates, possible food stamp increases and an extension of unemployment benefits to go along with the federal reserve easing interest rates to lessen the pain on lenders and borrowers alike.

The first question we have is, is this too little too late for the many that have languished at the bottom for far too long. Our second and more important question is will congress and the White House be able to reach a non partisan agreement on how the projected $150 billion dollar stimulus package is going to be divvied up.

Since their track record on cooperating for the citizen’s best interest to date has been dismal at best, one has to remain skeptical and realistic. When factoring in the election season rhetoric and grandstanding we are hoping the candidates on the campaign trail will refrain from making promises they know they can’t keep.

The President was wise to keep his message broad and detail free so as to give himself and congress a chance to do their bloody battle over number crunching far from the public view. At a time when the country is near all time lows in confidence, the last thing we need is for this fight to spill out on to Wall street and Main Street where not only will make things worse, but will slow progress to a grinding halt.

Issues Under Fire: Bush Bashed In Mid East Over Regurgitated Policies, Bernanke Looks Worried And More

By all accounts, the President could have saved the tax payers a lot of dough by just keeping his ass on American soil as his first and presumable last trip to the Mid-East was a complete disaster. Being seen as begging for oil from the Saudis and getting resoundingly rejected, in addition to those calling his two main purposes of the tour; to isolate the Iranians and reignite serious peace negotiations between the Israelis and Palestinians just wet dreams.

In other news:
 Mike Huckabee wants to tweak the constitution to be more Jesus friendly

 Fed Chairmen Bernanke looking hard at much needed economic stimulus package.

RetroVision Theater's Black Box Theatre Wednesday Recommends Pinocchio

Hey NYC theatergoers, looking for something drastically theatrically different this weekend? Perhaps some European theater wrapped in a circus like atmosphere, with a splash of fairy tales from the old country? How about if we could suggest a comedic dramatic production of Pinocchio produced via a hidden dark metaphoric enigmatic driven plot that will keep you riveted throughout the play and engaged in conversation for the rest of your evening?

Well, we got just the ticket for you, as the Italian Theatre Company Teatro Del Carretto opened at La Mama Theatre in the East Village Thursday last with their macabre adaptation of Italian author Carlo Collodi’s vintage tale of the super snout lying toy boy wannabe. Astoundingly directed by Maria Grazia Cipriani and designer Graziano Gregori, they expertly reweave this harmless child’s bedtime story into an adult’s late night reason for self-reflection.

The first of this twenty-five-scene production opens with poor Pinocchio on the receiving end of a sadomasochistic training session designed to garner Pinocchio’s compliance to perform and accept the dark fate of his own making.

Throughout the telling of the tale, the original story line is messaged and enhanced with non sequential dreamlike states of reality that speaks to a play within a play that is playing a very clever trick on Pinocchio and the audience alike. With an especially creative set design, staging, lighting, special effect and sound engineering, the viewers is transported into Pinocchio’s horrid dilemma and find themselves laughing less and wishing the dumb toy boy well.

We should mention, this production is performed entirely in Italian but for those that are linguistically challenged as are most Americans you will get it, trust me.

Issues Under Fire: Obama And Hillary Need To Get Back On Message, Bush Begging Saudis For More Oil, And Republicans Fight For Motor Voters

We are chilling today as we await the debate in Nevada tonight to see if Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama can put the race and gender cards back on the bottom of the political deck where they belong. The longer they allow the morons/manipulators in the mainstream media to keep this divisiveness red herring of an issue afloat while the economy continues to sink, it lessons the chance the country will have to thoroughly examine the candidate’s plans to right the many wrongs of this outgoing administration.

And the Bush Administration can’t get out fast enough, with the president in Saudi Arabia begging the world’s barons to open the spigot wider to help ease the price of home heating oil and gas prices at home. What is Bush promising in return for this hat in hand play? A mere $20 Billion arms deal that we can’t be sure the military hardware won’t end up in the hands of our enemies down the line. Most astute observers will remember that past arms deals meant to shore up pseudo friends with military might to fend off immediate threats have always come back to haunt us. One could apply the definition of insanity here; doing the same thing over and over hoping for different results.

Keeping a sense of balance, President Bush is also hooking up the Israelis with a $30 Billion arms package over the next ten years. All we can say is what a concept; flood the region with arms to keep the peace. Why didn’t we think of that? We’ll never know. We can only surmise only idiotic minds think alike.

We recognizer the Republicans are battling neck and neck in Michigan with Mitt Romney promising to bring Detroit back to world dominance in the auto industry all by his lonesome while McCain telling the same crowds to get real and get retrained for new industries whit Mike Huckabee bringing up the rear, but it seems senseless to pay much attention to these losers since no Republican is going to win the White House any damn way. In our opinion, Mike Huckabee and Ron Paul would be the least damaging to the nation, but if that is our view; the Republican Party will surely reject them as not conservative enough. Hence, the Republicans will be the big losers in 08. Hell, they will be luck to keep any significant numbers in the House and Senate. That is just how fed up the nation with their performance. Issue Under Fire: Red Herring Is On the Menu for South Carolina

Early indications leads us to believe the mainstream media is determined to serve up some rotten Red Herring for the South Carolina primary as they insist on hyping the MLK “dis” by Hillary Clinton. Playing the tired, she said this or he said that, to get a rise from the offended party, does nothing but give an exhausted political press corps devoid of something new to talk about, something to talk about and skew the publics view of the real issues.

Tim Russert played the “explain yourself game” like a master on Sunday’s Meet The Press as he looked every bit the tough, probing journalist, getting the candidate to squirm for the cameras while the simpletons of America blood boils for what every petty racial grips they still harbor within their slow to evolve hearts and minds. Hillary Clinton swallowed the bait hook line and sinker, by allowing herself to be pinned down by the moronic inquisition.

One can only hope Barack Obama continues to show the wisdom he has in the past and ignore this sideshow crap by focusing on his message of healing the nation’s ills collectively and not fall prey to divisive politicking base on race, gender or socio-economic class. South Carolina is where the rubber meets the road for the Obama campaign and if he is as smart as he has been touted to be, he will continue to campaign for one America.

The one man the nation feels has the best chance to change the direction of this country while giving America the long overdue facelift we need to stride confidently into the future, can not allow a few hyper sensitive, easily offended, civil rights marketing charlatans, to highjack his momentum, having him to address non-issues. The efforts and sacrifices of MLK are well documented and better left to historians to rehash.

The candidates should tell America how they plan on competing with the world in education, providing healthcare for American workers/citizens, better fuel-efficient cars, the sub-prime market and the impending recession while addressing how they are going to bring jobs back to our shores.

These presidential wannabes should keep their eyes on how they are going to solve the immigration issue while maintaining some semblance of homeland and port security. We’ll save the problems of state budgets being slashed at all levels due to the treasure draining the Iraq and Afghanistan wars are causing, for latter arguments.

We realize the tough job journalist have when trying to come up with something to write and chat about daily and weekly in such a long and drawn-out primary process, but just because the mainstream media assholes are caught with writer’s block or simply stuck in yesteryear’s method of political reporting, does not mean the voting public should allow themselves to be dragged down that old dark alley of race and gender baiting separatism. We don’t quite smell a rat yet, but something fishy is going on.

Morning, Afternoon and Good Night Reviewed and Recommended

We have a better late than never theater recommdation for a fabulous trio of one act plays closing far too soon at the La Mama Theatre in the East Village. Morning, Afternoon and Good Night directed by Oleg Braude is a reach back to simpler times of the fifties and sixties with these tightly written, getting to the point quickly, conversationally driven dramas focusing on three very unique relationships between three couples trying desperately to find themselves in the hearts and minds of their partners.

A Corner of a Morning, written by Michael Locasio, with Melissa Schoenberg (Ellen) and Scott Douglas Cunningham (Eddie) is the opener of the trio, capturing the full flavor of a brief tryst that has one half of the loin-lock session, longing for more while the other, more experienced swinger for cash, can’t wait for the sun to set on the relationship.

Talk To Me Like The Rain and Let Me Listen, written by Pulitzer Prize winner Tennessee Williams with Emma Decorsey (Woman) and Shea Elmore (Man) tells the tale of two seemingly lost souls living so deep within themselves, they find a way to escape their drab listless and lifeless existence through drugs alcohol wild parties (his way) and fantasies of separation and isolation from unspecified demons (her way).

Good Night I Love You, written by William Hoffman with Alicia Henry (sexually confused codependent) and Guy Chachkes (overtly gay mama wannabe) manage to maintain a loving relationship despite their inner yearnings for loves lost. Via an extended good night conversation that leads to a bedtime story that will do anything but put you to sleep.

In a phrase, this is good stuff and should not be missed.

RetroVision Media's Issue Under Fire: Bush Searching For Mid East Peace In All The Wrong Places

President Bush is in the Middle East searching for a peaceful solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, but we feel no matter how deeply he digs, he will not find the peace and compromise the administration is seeking with the current strategy he and his cohorts are employing.

With their heads firmly stuck in the same old methods of dealing with the tougher issues in the most troubled region on the planet, the administration seems to be dragging out the same rusty rhetoric that has produced and continues to foster animosity and mistrust among the major players. Simply put, Hamas is going to have to be addressed up close and personal, while granting them equal respect and support that is being bestowed upon the Abbas/Fatah crew. Short of that, there is little that will be accomplished from this trip other than phony photo opportunities.

If we as a nation can’t find a way to elect new, fresh, untainted by special interest, even handed leadership to confront the real problems that have traditionally kept these warring factions at deadly odds, then whomever takes the reins in 08 will find themselves foraging for answers and only finding the same shitty results.

In other news:
 Bill Richardson bites the dust
 Ultra lefties trying to fight for no photo id’s to vote. We say, “Say cheese or say goodbye to political process".

Plus, another Inner Sanctum Episode today, this one entitled Death by Scripture. Enjoy!

Movies of the day have been posted below.

RetroVision Media Presents The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet

We visit a golden age in America when everybody was healthy, financially secure, with mortgages current, and not a military conflict on the planet. Those were the days when a man could lounge around the house with no visible signs of income and still feed the family and drive a nice car. Maybe Ozzie was really a crack dealer and Harriet was a pole dancer in a booty bar at night. Well, how do you explain their lifestyle?

RetroVision Theater Presents Death in the Shadows

We got the ultimate mama drama flick for ya today. Get this: young woman hanging tough in Amesterdam without a care in the world, when her mother is killed in a car accident. The autopsy indicates that that dead women can't possible be the young woman's birth mother and now she has to find out who her real parents are, while the cops try to find out who the hit and run driver was and if there is connection.

Issue Under Fire: Hey Obama What The Hell Happened?

Caught without words or explanation for the unexpected Clinton win in the New Hampshire primary leads us to ask you to pick our headline for today’s posting. Should it read the shopworn dog-eared, “Clinton, the come back kid”, “Obama slips on Clinton tears”, “Never underestimate the power of a woman’s tears” or perhaps “New Hampshire Independents got played?” We give up on this one; you’ll have to call it for yourselves.

This contest is turning into the dogfight we always anticipated but were secretly hoping to avoid by having Obama and Edwards capture the nation’s imagination and lead the charge of change into the White House as President and Vice President respectively. But as life would have it, some last minute emotional stunts, buoyed by Big Bill’s attacks whining about the process, gave the Clinton’s the extra boost they needed to slither and slick their way past the so called savvy voters in New Hampshire.

We see an interesting analogy shaping up in this race for the Democratic nomination that reminds us of the Ali-vs-Frazier match ups during the seventies. You got your tall handsome smooth talking, floating like a butterfly and stinging like a bee Obama taking on the strong tough experienced Hillary. As exciting as those close, hard fought contest were, we as most of America would agree, Ali was on the right side of the social issues and Frazier, for all he brought into the ring was no mental giant and faded into obscurity as we are hoping for Hillary Clinton.

Sorry, but we aren’t swayed but crocodile tears or Big Bill to the rescue. We are sticking with the facts. And the fact remains, a vote for Hillary is a vote for yesterday, the same old, same old sh*t that got this country in the toilet, and we’re swirling around, hoping the world don’t decide to flush. We as a nation need to totally refurbish the political landscape with bright, fresh open-minded invigorated thinkers that will reshape America’s image and standing in the world. We don’t see even a tsunami of tears getting that done, nor the coattails Big Bill is allowing Hillary to grab a free ride on, getting that done. So don’t be suckered, snookered, duped or bamboozled into that whole nostalgia mindset the Clinton Campaign is planning for their next battle in South Carolina.

Issues Under Fire: Can You Say Recession, Do You Remember The Depression, Go Barack In New Hampshire

The President finally acknowledged yesterday what Wall St. and Main St. have known for months, that the country’s economy has fallen and is having trouble getting back up. As per usual, the government is about six to eight months lagging behind in letting the nation know the ugly truth concerning the conditions we face. Whether it is the wars, the housing crisis, or the aforementioned economy, it seems the dumb bastards on Pennsylvania Ave. are the last to know.

Offering little, if any hope for the truly effected, President Bush is pushing for the usual tax breaks for big and small business with the expectation the trickle down effect will reached the masses before it is too late. We wish we could report differently, but that is all the administration had to offer.

Now, the President is taking his silly ass to the Middle East for the obligatory outgoing presidential visit to the world’s hotspot for legacy solidifying photo opportunities. Again, we wish we could report more is going to be accomplished on his trip, but we know better and so do you.

With that firmly understood, we should all focus on the New Hampshire primary today, as the Independents will have their say on who should take the helm to lead this country back to some semblance of respectability. The early predictions are indicating Barack Obama is a sure bet to garner a significant enough win to hammer another well placed nail into the coffin of Hillary Clinton’s campaign.

On the Republican side, our crystal ball is rather foggy, as there is no clear winning pick in this contest because the Republican Party is still having difficulty stomaching and digesting their choices. What else can we say, but keep the faith, maybe former Republican Mike Bloomberg will jump in to spice things up.

In the meantime, we are going to laugh the day away while awaiting the primary results with three great episodes of The Best of Jack Benny. RetroVision Theater Returns To It's Black Box Roots

RetroVision Theater returns to NYC’s Black Box/Indie Theatre community to scavenge for great theatrical productions and performances that normally would be overlooked by the mainstream media. Starting Wednesday we shall again offer our recommendations of the latest offerings in Independent Theatre productions going on throughout the city.

Whilst our primary concern/service is to locate good, sound, talent laden, affordable theatre for our viewers, visitors and audience, from time to time we are the victims of bad, crappy, poorly staged and shabbily directed performances, to provide said service. Many times, bad theatre is hidden behind cleverly written press materials specifically designed to entice the unwitting theatergoer into forking over the price of admission for an evening of theatre they are sure to regret.

When we come across the profoundly stupid scripts, sometimes camouflaged by “artistic license” laced with inept acting, while being directed by directionally challenged directors, we'll offer an advisory on the offending production so the theatergoing public can be forewarned. In our opinion, time is too precious a commodity to be wasted squirming in one’s seat praying for intermission so one can make a hasty exit.

We will make every effort to be kind to the “novice” making a debut with new untested material as well as the fresh faced actors just starting out in this ultra competitive business/vocation. But in some unfortunate cases, we will get rough and tough with performances that fail to maintain the bare minimum of professionalism necessary for a fee of any amount to be charged.

We have in the past written vicious and scathing assessments of a writer, director, and or actor’s efforts while letting off steam for the loss of a perfectly good Saturday night, as we were forced to witness a talent-free production of this or that. As a result of our predilection to fuck someone up verbally for their theatrical production incompetence, we have had to endure the literary wrath of his or her friends and relatives. However, keep in mind, it is our duty to our audience to report what we find, how we find it and what we think what we find is worth to you.

So, for those that find salty language, harsh criticism sprinkled with witticisms for effect offensive and or disturbing, you might want to check out NYTheatre.com as an option. They have an extensive listing of theatrical productions going on in the city and their writers/reviewers are far more congenial and polite. We on the other hand are short on time and patients, only visiting a maximum of ten to twelve productions per month. We will review four of the best and or worst productions as our staff has other assignments and responsibilities to manage.

That being said, welcome back for some laughs, some great recommendations and above all, some really cool theatre here in the finest tradition of off-off Broadway.

Obama and Huckabee Offering America What It Needs Now: Hope & Prayer

The Iowa Caucasus voters gave America the shot in the arm it has needed for more than seven years with a vote for Hope and A Prayer, while delivering a well deserved slap in the face to the merchants of the status quo. Placing Barack Obama and Mike Huckabee front and center for America’s future, shows just how much this country is fed up with the direction the nation has taken. It is these new faces, ideas and viewpoints, along with John Edwards’ is what we need to invest in if this country is going to have a hope and prayer to pull its self out of a self inflicted tailspin.

This is a good day to be an American, proud to see that our country is awake again, looking forward, raising our expectations again and not settling for the phony smiles, the insincere handshakes, and empty promises of elections past. This nation, as well as the world is hungry for leaders with character, competence and moral fortitude. We have been experiencing far too many dark and dismal days of this current administration as they have sent a once great and proud country into the bowels of despair.

We watched a military second to none nearly ravaged and sacrificed by incompetence and foolhardy arrogance, we have seen the American economy fall to a near embarrassing state on the world stage, while our children falter in school, with the sick and needy struggle without adequate healthcare. We have watched an administration let the borders crumble while at the same time preach homeland security.

Our current crop of leaders have allowed corporations to ship quality jobs abroad in record numbers in order to pocket huge profits and dividends for the lucky few. All the while, squeezing that last bit of self respect from the middle class as they are forced to compete for lower wages with those sneaking up from south of the insecure border.

If Barack Obama and Mike Huckabee are able to ride this first wave of success further into the primary process, this writer would be please to see something even more challenging to occur; A merging of both candidates on to one ticket via a Unity 08 styled concept.

America, you have been clamoring for change, why stop here? Why not give the Republican/Democrat party bosses and “know it all’s” the kick in the nuts they deserve, by merging the best each party has to offer, thus stripping away the partisan bickering long enough to provide overdue relief to a weary people.

Iowa Rules The Day, The CIA Investigated Oil Hits Record Territory and Recession Around the Corner

We realize the Iowa Caucasus is taking place today and that is why we are leading today’s political news analysis with said topic. But this is not the most important news of the day. We’ll get to that later!

With the race tighter than Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ass, we are hopeful that the number of those caucusing will be large so as to catapult Barack Obama to a win, with John Edwards a close second. As much as we like Joe Biden, respect Chris Dodd, and Dennis Kucinich, as well as Bill Richardson (Best Qualified Vice President we have ever seen) it is obvious now they haven’t got a snow ball’s chance in hell of pulling off an upset.
On the Republican side of this contest, we are hoping for Mike Huckabee to kick the crap out of phony-ass Mitt Romney with Ron Paul taking the second place spot. While Dr. Paul appears unlikely at the moment, money and momentum could swing things his way in later.
We should mention we have a great deal of respect for John McCain, despite his stance on the war and immigration, but somehow, his age should be considered a major factor, as this historic presidential campaign has proven to be grueling and exhaustive. The next president is going to be required to maintain a vigorous hands on approach to governing and managing the nation’s business as well as its image, and McCain may not have enough gas in his tank for the long haul.
The rest of the Republican pack can and should be taken out on an icy lake and beaten to death like baby seals for even contemplating running in the first place. We’d like to make one exception to the above, Hillary Clinton’s fate should be worse, as she should be placed before a full length mirror and allow her to bore herself to death. Click Here to download or on air to stream.
By the way, we did mention at the top of this posting that the Iowa Caucasus was only the second most important story today. The most important and possibly history making event taking place in the country is the criminal investigation of the CIA, over the destroyed video tapes. For our analysis of this topic, you must listen to the podcast or return here tomorrow for the accompaning copy.

Right now, Washington seems to be in a wait and see mode.
